  • After an original guided tour of the splendors of the Marais with the lecturer Anouchka de culture-Emoi (I recommend!) which ends with the access to place des Vosges by the Hotel de Sully and its sublime Orangerie, do not miss to push up to the corner side King's Pavilion. The second floor is fully furnished and decorated by the paintings, objects (Chinese Salon!!) of Victor Hugo who lived there as a family 14 years before his departure to Brussels then the Channel Islands. Beautiful view over the whole place, nice to take pictures! On the ground floor small brochure presenting the imposing family tree Hugo, two of the current descendants painter and photographer had in charge the temporary Expo of the 1st floor (paying) on Hauteville House. All the staff at the Museum are friendly.

  • In a Parisian panorama where everything is paid, it is almost a miracle to find a historical place with free admission (municipal museum). The Writer's dwelling extends to the second floor, preserves original furnishings and others taken from Hugo's villa in Guernesey, Channel Island. The Most valuable item is in my opinion the view of the large, charming Place des Vosges: Admiring Paris from above is always invaluable experience. The Museum also offers temporary exhibitions, for a fee

  • We saw Victor Hugo's apartment which has been painstakingly reconstructed to show what it would have been like. The Chinese drawing room was reassembled in 1903 and looked wonderful with the sun streaming in. The bedroom where he slept at the end of his life has also been faithfully recreated. I recommend this museum and now would like to visit the house in Guernsey
  • Just think about that he actually had lived in this place makes me giddy with joy. Such a great author, such a marvelous artist. I loved the whole setting.
