  • Nothing more true than making a detour to see an artifact that no longer works. The clock is actually superb but unfortunately the time is stopped.

  • This superb machine called "The defender of time" is the wall of the building located in the neighborhood of the clock just behind the centre Pompidou. Œuvre Jacques Monestier, she is stopped since 2003. It is an automaton that has fixed and mobile elements, Golden hammered brass, which symbolizes a turtle, a dragon and a crab. But above all, a man found on a rock, a sword in hand and a shield bearer, would normally fight a bird. The planted but sets, alas, all this is frozen. In addition, the city of Paris had the nerve to place a plaque stating "Waiting for restoration, after a long downtime (SIC), the controller does not work for an indefinite time" here is written. Should it conclude that, if the thing had to be done, it would be done?. I conclude therefore that the stop is for "Ad Vitam Aeternam" hope I am wrong!

  • Worth a visit if you're in the area. Centre Pompidou is just around the corner alongside many shops and alike.
  • This hidden gem is actually a piece of mechanical art with short but interesting history and even shorter life. Commissioned in 1975 by a private company it was inaugurated in 1979 by Jacques Chirac - Mayor of Paris at this time. The automated mechanism was designed to put in motion a set of figures - a man with sword and a shield fighting randomly a bird, a dragon and a crab (air, earth and water) thus defending time. At noon, 6pm and 10pm all tree animals attack at the same time. This scene was accompanied by sounds of breaking waves, rumbling earth or the sound of wind, depending on the animal chosen. Too bad the installation doesn't work since 2003 due to lack of funding for maintenance.
