  • It Is A work of Caesar dating from 1985, is a monumental bronze sculpture, almost 5 meters high, represents a centaur, a mythical creature with the body of a horse and a bust of a man. The Head of the sculpture is a self-portrait of the sculptor. César (1921-1998) was an emblematic artist of the New Realism.

  • The "Centaure," which the Artist César created for Paris, was inaugurated in 1985. It deviates from the classical mythological Figure Half Man, half horse, in essential Aspects, directly intentionally deforming. César Baldacci regarded his Work as a Tribute to Pablo Picasso. It must be understood as a modern Interpretation of the legendary Essence, which, despite its idiosyncratic Elements, succeeds in Expressing the wild Power attributed to the Centaur. With Everyday Objects, the Artist handles his Inspiration. In Doing so, he achieves a Break with Abstraction by advancing a Reflection on Materials, plastic Techniques and the Consumer Society. César was one of the New Realists, a Group that included Jean Tinguely. Against this Background, the Work of César is also understandable for People who are rather alien to such Contractions. It is a Work that occurs between aesthetic Affirmation and a Discord to classical Art. Many Viewers will perceive it as a Chasm in their Understanding of art. There remains a Memory, however, that they are long ago to grapple with to bridge the Divide.
