Cardinal de Richelieu, the prime minister for King Louis XIII, commissioned the construction of the palace surrounding Jardin du Palais Royal in 1629. These gardens, enclosed within the walls of the palace, were first opened to the public in the 18th century. There are numerous restaurants inside the gardens, including famous Le Grand Véfour. Seek out the controversial modern art piece Colonnes de Buren, installed within the interior courtyard. Jardin du Palais Royal is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Paris Edition.

  • If the site is called Palais Royal, it is simply because it sheltered the future Louis XIV for some time. The architecture of the Palace reminds the Louvre, all like its garden, French, with a few sets of perfectly lined and trimmed trees, as well as some beautiful flowerbeds and the indispensable benches to have a good time. At the southern end of the garden are the famous columns of Buren, a contemporary realization of Daniel Buren. Personally, they leave me marble, but well, others will find a very great interest. They are nevertheless an additional curiosity which allows to dress up the space of the Court of honour of the Palace.

  • There Are many similar places in Paris. But each of them has its own, special atmosphere. And here is no exception. It Was in spring. Everything was blooming, flowers were blooming. Everything is beautifully kept. And What I like especially-the presence of benches or separate chairs! For the elderly, just grace. Recommend!

  • May or may not have came here because it was a shooting location in Mission Impossible: Fallout. That doesn't mean it detracts from the beauty and peace found in this garden. Definitely pay this place a visit while in Paris. You won't regret it.
  • Beautiful garden where you can sit quietly and enjoy the view of water fountain, tree lines and flowers. Or stroll and enjoy window-shopping the small unique shops and high-end boutiques.
