  • In the 5th arrondissement, in the square Paul Painlevé, opposite the entrance of the Cluny museum, you will discover this fountain. It was carried out in 1909 under the cup of the architect Henri-Paul Nenot and the sculptor Jules-Clément chaplain. She pays tribute to Octave Gréard, who was Vice-Rector of the Université de Paris and a member of the French Academy. At the top of this fountain, under a hollow arch lies the bust of octave Gréard and above a medallion with the dedication to his attention. At the base, in front of the pelvis, a bas-relief depicting a schoolteacher, open book on her knees and bouquet of flowers in her right hand. In front of her, a pupil tends a bouquet of flowers to the bust to pay tribute to public instruction. A beautiful realization. You can come by Metro, line 10, station "Cluny-la Sorbonne".
