  • It is here that the first Parisian artesian well was made (where a slaughterhouse was at the time). A nice little place to see if you are in the area.  more »
  • In the 15th arrondissement, on the place Georges Mulot, you will discover the "Fountain of the well of Grenelle". Built in 1906, it is due to the architect Jean Camille Formigé and the sculptors Firmin Michelet, Paul Waast, Hippolyte Lefebvre and Georges Loiseau Bailly. It replaced an artesian well of 1841, directed by Louis Georges Mulot whose place bears his name to pay homage to him. On each face of this fountain is a Medallion in bas-relief representing Louis Georges Mulot (engineer), Valentin Hauy (founder of the institution of the young blind), Rosa Bonheur (painter) and Eugène Bouchut (doctor of Medicine), personalities of the time. The water flowed through a bronze mascaron with a character head. A beautiful work. You can come by Metro, line 10, station "Ségur" or line 6, station "Sèvres Lecourbe".
