  • In neo-classical style and Louis XVI, under the cut of the architect Pierre Louis Moreau Desproux and the sculptor Pierre Philippe Mignot, the construction of this fountain was carried out in 1764. It was inscribed in the historical monuments in 1925. On the front, it presents a bas-relief of the said sculptor, representing a NAIADE lying in reeds, leaning on an urn. Initially this fountain was fed by the waters of Belleville and then by the water of the Canal Saint-Martin. To see.

  • This fountain is located at the corner of the street of the Archives and the Haudriettes, in the 3 district. It dates from 1764 and was commissioned by the Provost of the merchants (Mayor) of Paris to supply the water district. She is one of the few fountains in neo classical style in Paris. It was powered by the waters of Belleville and then under Napoleon I the Saint Martin canal by 1825. This fountain comes in the form of an isolated Aedicule and stone, at the edge of the street. It has a sculpture representing a Naiad back lying on reeds; The top of the fountain is carved with a pediment topped classic style of attic. A mascaron to lion's head spits water or rather spat water because during my visit it was closed. The framework, which unfolds around this building, is charming with two shades that frame it and, in the background, the terrace coffee of the Archives and a superb polychrome gigantic mural. This piece is called "The light of man woman" work of Robert Combas. I love this area of the Haut Marais more peaceful than the other and especially less overrated! This fountain is on Historical Monuments and she deserves it. The nearest metro station is "Rambuteau" line no. 11 up the Beaubourg Street to the North. Then then take rue Michel Lecomte right which goes by the street of the Haudriettes. I searched whence came the name Haudriettes well he's the owner of Etienne game, valet of Philip the fair, which has been which of its lands and the monastery of the Sisters of charity who took the name "Haudriettes" and in the 14 th century.
