  • This church is located at no. 9 the doctor Roux Street, near the hospital Necker. Built between 1908 and 1909, she was responding to an increase in the population of the district, as a result of the construction of the hospital in 1802 and the Pasteur Institute in 1888. His dedication to John the Baptist of the room is related to creation in this neighborhood, and by that, the first Institute of the Christian schools in 1699. This creation has revolutionized teaching from the beginning of the 18 th century. The great mosaic, which lies on the triumphal arch above the choir, describes the educational missions of the brothers of the Christian schools. Children of all countries are represented symbolically in this large fresco. It is the work of Marcel Imbs and completed by Jean Gaudin in 1935. Many windows of very good quality, evoke the life of St. John Baptist, in the ambulatory of the right. They are the work of glass artist Charles woodwork in 1912. The other windows are modern inspiration in geometric patterns. The style of this church, built by the architect Edouard Jacquemin, is a mix. There neo novel in the nave, transhumance arcades basket handle, with a barrel vault as well, there is a semblance of neo Gothic in the ambulatories with Ridge arches. The pillars are extremely simple without ornate marquee. They extend by a narrow ledge at 3 levels with an "Art Déco" pattern. In this period, just after the separation of Church and State, the style of churches is looking for, and it is a good example. The outside follows this movement, with a bell tower porch, in advance of façade, which is "inspired" by the style"romano-Byzantine". " To access the Church, which is located in elevation, two monumental staircases are built from each side. A statue of John the Baptist, in white marble, stands in front of the porch. This is a copy of the sculptor Caesar Aureli, St. Peter in Rome. The side bottom left of the nave, is interesting, because it houses a chapel dedicated to the Virgin and St. Joseph, with beautiful mosaics on the Arch of the back. This bottom side, which is double, has a beautiful Pieta carved in marble, right next to the Monument to the dead. The high altar is simple style, under a non-decorated canopy, but it is ornamented in two low relief carved representing the vine and the grape harvest, the Louel work. I also saw a very original "Christ on the cross" painted wood in the naïve style, in the chapel Sainte Genevieve. As the organ of tribune, the Merlin factor, it is Gothic with statues carved on a wooden pendulum with balcony. This church is reached by the metro station "Pastor" lines No. 6 and 12 by taking the Pasteur boulevard to the South, then the first street on the right.
