  • We were in this church on our first day in Paris, we were staying at Cambronne and went out walking in the neighborhood. A beautiful Church, cosy, invites to prayer. Instead of banks individual chairs of straw, as in other churches. Beautiful stained glass Windows adorning the side. A curiosity, the candles for gifts are cheaper than in churches.

  • This church is located at the end of trade, in the 15th arrondissement. It is part of these churches built during the restoration to 1824, to meet the needs in places of worship in the common close of Paris, such as the new village of Grenelle. "Style of back to ancient orders" is in fashion at the time. So it is built according to a plan of Romanesque Basilica with a nave without transept. The originality of this building comes from its bell tower square and aerated with a headdress to solid structure, which is deliberately neo Gothic style. Daring marriage between these two styles is successful! The outside also has amenities like a garden with fountain on the side of the bedside with pleasant shadows. In front of the Church, which has a Romanesque style with 3 arches porch, we can enjoy the benches under shading. All this gives this set a look like "Church village". It is located in Grenelle, then off the walls, then it will be integrated in the Paris of the 15 district under Napoleon III in 1860. It is located at no. 23 of the Place Etienne Pernet. The donor of the land with the name Jean Baptiste, the Church took this name for patron saint. When this church is going to be too small for the population of Grenelle we adds an axial Chapel behind the choir, a transept and an ambulatory. The stained glass windows are deliberately yellow background, with a mosaic of full-color squares. They date from 1930 and are signed by the master glass artist Jacob. The yellow color, which invades the Church, is the symbol of the Resurrection. The stained glass windows of the ambulatory and the side chapels, modern style and date from 1950. However the artist has had the good idea to put saints in Medallion in the stained glass windows of the choir, which breaks the monotony of the "yellow"! The stunning Pieta of the Virgin Gustave Dermigny Basswood of 1950. Similarly a calvary in wood of the same artist, in the naïve roman style, is of good quality, and is located at the entrance of the nave. the Interior is simple style with semicircular arches and an arch at the crossroads of the transept, which was added in 1924. This one has a beautiful polychrome painting representing Saint John the Baptist. But it is not easy to admire, but can be very clear. Painted the cupola pendants represent the old testament by the same artist. The full-color mural that is above the choir is beautiful. It is the work of the painter Henri Nozais, date of 1929 and represents "Life of Christ" and "The life of St. John the Baptist". Come to this church, it is well, according to me, to see all these paintings preferring a bright day! It is accessible by metro stations 'Trade' in the North and "Felix" felix faure "Faure" South, line no. 8
