Cette basilique , de rend mineur à Paris ( depuis 1966) , se trouve au n° 55 boulevard de Ménilmontant dans le 11 ème arrondissement , près du Cimetière du Père Lachaise. She does not see the Boulevard, so it is necessary to pass under a porch of building before entering the Church. The Church succeeds a modest chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart dating from 1872. It was in 1874 that the Redemptorist brothers set up a ND icon of perpetual help in the Chapel, a name that will remain. The original icon, in the Byzantine style of the 14th century, is reputed to be miraculous and is located in Rome. The one in the Church is a copy. The neighborhood being poor at the time, the Redemptorist brothers take over the support of the people and their evangelization!! The neighbourhood which, increasing its population at the end of the nineteenth century, forced to create a larger church in 1898. The choice of neo-Gothic style, fits better in a "Cathedral", according to the plans of brother Gerard of the Congregation. This large church with its deployed nave, features all the advantages of Gothic structures, with crossed arches of warhead, supported by ribbed pillars. Intermediate pillars with carved capitals support the broken arches of the lower sides. The keys of the vault are adorned with foliage with inscriptions of litany. The lower sides of the nave, are 3 levels, with broken arches, between the pillars with capitals decorated with foliage. These capitals contain a phylactery (carved band) with the litany of the Virgin. The second level consists of a gallery without stained glass, with openings of Gothic style. The 3rd level, is made of a series of polychrome stained glass Windows with geometric drawings on the lateral, work of Marcelle Lacamp dating from 1910. The semi-circular apse, is in the same style with modern stained glass Windows in a Gothic setting. The choir is elegant, under a vault in a very successful neo-Gothic style. The Royal arch in front of the choir is decorated on each side, of a statue of Angel with a phylactery (sculpted banner) there is no ambulatory, but the lower sides are open from dedicated chapel, with the tables of the way of the cross. The funds of transept are original, adorned with three arches with a carved tympanum, supporting polychrome stained glass Windows with geometric drawings. These stained glass Windows are very nice Bill, with nested vertical structures. On the left transept, the famous ND icon of perpetual help, is exhibited for worship. . The marble-lying, of the founder of the order of the Redemptorists in 1732, Alphonse Marie de Liguori (1696-1787) is in this transept. On the left side of the apse, a strange carved wooden statue depicting "Joseph Le juste" attracts the gaze, by its long-flame style incorporating two superposed heads. It is the work of Joseph Pyrz in 2003. The way of the cross, made of broken arch paintings, is particularly interesting by the quality of the painted works, in an academic style. They are the work of Alcan establishments and date back to the nineteenth century. Finally, the large organ of the Tribune, are highlighted by a large Gothic arch and stained glass Windows in 3 parts of size in gradient. Externally the Church is not easily visible, because partly in the middle of the buildings. It has no particular character, except its slender arrow in the Centre of the building. It is in the shape of a Latin cross without Tower steeple. The materials used are the grinding stone, for fills, which give it a sad look! A renovation of the roof is underway. This church doesn't seem to be registered to MH. It is accessible by metro station "Père Lachaise" lines n ° 2 and 3

From the outside, at 55 boulevard Ménilmontant, we see nothing of this building, just a regular building façade. We are entering a gallery which opens into a courtyard and then there is the entrance of the Church. Inside, you can admire the stations of the cross in painting paintings, modern stained glass windows, all sets of capitals with bands of inscriptions, the paving on the ground, keystones, some sculptures, the organ of tribune ... In 1966, this church is elevated to the rank of Basilica. A little visit. Come by metro, station "Père Lachaise".
Went into the church as I was walking by, beautiful ascetic design and truly a peaceful place to gather your thoughts and spend some time with yourself
Modern church with no special interest. Accessible through a porch.
