Cimetiere St-Vincent Reviews
Le cimetière Saint Vincent est situé au pied de la Butte Montmartre coté Nord et en bas de la mythique rue Saint Vincent . Cette rue , qui date du 17 ème siècle , a fait l'objet de tableaux de peintre... more »The saint Vincent cemetery is located at the foot of the Butte Montmartre on the north side and down the mythical St Vincent Street. This street, which dates from the 17th century, has been the subject of paintings by painters, songs and has a typical character of the Montmartre mound, it almost feels like the countryside !!. This small cemetery has been home to personalities from the world of the Arts such as Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955) famous painter of Montmartre since 1920, son of the muse Suzanne Valadon who served as a model for , Toulouse Lautrec , Auguste Renoir and Vincent Van Gogh, etc. Marcel Aymé (1902-1967), author of numerous literary works and plays, film script, also rests there. The composer Of music Arthur Honegger (1892-1955) who was very active with notably " Pacific 231 " modern symphonic piece dedicated to the steam engine , etc. finds here eternal rest . Some tombs are original with for example the one that represents a small house with a checkered window (Ceramist Nicolas Platon 1968), or a "House" in the middle of messy plantations, which is inspired by the "Haunted Houses". The tomb of Steinlen ( 1859-1923) painter and draughtsman , good man who lived in the neighborhood , is strange, because made of stacking stones with pictures of cats, which he always welcomed in numbers at home. The tomb of René Dumesnil, literary critic and musicographer, is topped by a couple of bronze dancers. The cemetery has toilets and a drinking fountain. Walking through this small cemetery, you can enjoy its charming and slightly old-looking sides, with its alleys planted with olive trees, fig trees and yellow-flowered cytises, which is unusual for a cemetery as well as a cypress, all of which, recall the southern me Diterranean . The cemetery is accessible by the metro station "Lamarck Caulaincourt" line 12 , then you have to cross The Street Caulaincourt and take in front and to the left the street Lucien Gaulard .
Pittoresque à souhait ce petit cimetière vaut un petit détour. C'est un endroit très calme et il y a des toilettes. more »Picturesque wish this small cemetery is worth a detour. It is a very quiet place and there are toilets.
A beautiful nook of Montmartre to spend a few moments.
A Beautiful little cemetery accessible from the north-west corner. The first is the tomb of the great Swiss-born composer Arthur Honegger. His best-known works may be the train-themed Pacific 231, but he has also composed 5 very fantastic symphonies and the oratorio at the stage, Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher!
