  • This stone bust, by the poet Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585), is located on a pedestal in the shape of a square column, in the Michel de Foucault square, at n ° 45 rue des écoles. Work of Aristide Charles Louis Rousaud (1868-1948), it presents a very stripped effigy of Ronsard slightly altered by time. As it is called "the Prince of poets and the poet of the Princes", Ronsard is the most important of the sixteenth century, the heyday of the Renaissance. With Joachim du Bellay, this inventor of the famous collection of the Pleiade, is honored by sculptures on the perimeter of the plinth. His colleagues in literature, members of the Association of the Pleiade, appear in effigy on the perimeter of the pedestal. On the left you can see, Etienne Jodelle, Rémy Belleau; On the right two other figures are unfortunately erased. This bust is also placed in a small flowered and wooded enclosure, with benches for those who would like to enjoy the presence of Ronsard to meditate. The closeness of the Collège de France where the great French spirits are at the service of the greatest number, gives value to this work of the great French poet. On the back of the pedestal, it is recalled that this work was offered in 1928 to the city of Paris, by the Committee of the 4th centenary of Ronsard and admirers. On the face of the pedestal, the dates of the poet are engraved. This work is accessible by the Metro station "Maubert Mutualité" line no. 10, then take the rue Jean de Beauvais, up to the street of the schools.
