Boulangerie Poilane is a historical bread shop in Paris that is a must-see for any bread lover or traveling gourmet. Workers here take a passionate approach to their product, constantly looking for the best ingredients and the best production techniques. Even while you shop, ask about their approach to making the delicious loaves, bun, and more.

Bread at Boulangerie Poilane is made of four ingredients, including water, flour, salt, and a rising agent. Sea salt is sourced from Guérande, and the flour is exclusively stone-ground. In addition, a piece of dough from the previous batch of bread--the sourdough--is always used as a starter for the next batch. The type of oven used to bake bread is also important. They bake their breads in wood-fired ovens, and these ovens are fed with waste wood that cannot be used for any other industry. • Whenever I go to Paris, I stop by to buy Sabre. This time I wanted to buy a can of sabre, but the cans are sold separately, so they ask me if I can take an empty can to the cash register and put the sabre inside. If it is only a can, it is 22 dollars, and if it is in sabre, it will be 46 euros for 3 pieces of 300g of 9 dollars, so if you want three or more cans and 300g of sabre, you can buy a can with sabre and 3 dollars for 3 dollars.

  • They're famous for their bread, but I go for their butter cookies and apple tarts!
  • Great attentive staff. Fresh products. Great taste. Waiting time is worth it.
