  • I went for the first time at the Mazarine library, located at no. 23 quai Conti, just across the bridge from the Arts. Here is the story that is in the spotlight in all its components and documentation is exceptional. Originally it was the personal collection of Mazarin Minister of Louis XIII and Louis XIV from 1643 to 1661. By testament, Mazarin founded the college of the four Nations in 1661 with the eastern wing houses the collections that we see today. It is located in the nearby buildings of the College of France in the eastern part. You enter through the porch located to the right of the main entrance, and it opens into a courtyard bordered by buildings of classic style. The building is located in front and on the right is the college of France and on the left you can see the monumental façade of the library of classic style two-tier surmounted of a tent. This one bears the arms of Mazarin in Medallion. The décor is made of pilasters with 3 arches surmounted by sculpted friezes. Two solar clocks are decorated on the walls the entrance is on the left by a staircase in marble surrounded by many statues in bust, under a canopy of particularly successful; We welcome you to enter a room decorated wooden carved and surrounded by lockers and books. "L" shaped the reading itself is gym under a ceiling painted rather, with shelving to columns on the sides and the chandeliers of classic style. The western part is naturally lit by large windows that give side Seine. Tables are at the centre and are lit by lamps Lampshade style empire. For the first time you form a registration, which is free for up to 5 days. Then if you want to subscribe for more time, the price is 15 euros for a year. Hospitality is very efficient, and friendly in a very subdued atmosphere. The library is open Monday to Friday from 10 h to 18 h

  • Bibliothèque Mazarine located within the Palais de l'institut de France at 23 quai de Conti on the Left Bank of the Seine facing the Pont des Arts and the Louvre. Originally created by Prime Minister Cardinal Mazarin (1602-1661) as his personal library. Today it has one of the richest collections of rare books and manuscripts in France, and is the oldest public library in the country.
  • Very accessible historic library. Fast wifi, polite staff, and incredible interior.
