Baron Rouge (Le), Paris

Often described as one of the best bars in Paris, Baron Rouge (Le) is a haven for wine lovers and curious passersby alike--especially if you are coming from a nearby market and need to rest your feet. Whether you’re looking for a bite to eat or need to slake your thirst, stop here for good wine with quality local vintages in a blue-collar bar. On Sundays, they also offer oysters with a good Sancerre, or a plate of charcuterie.

In this charming den, the walls are covered with bottles and barrels stacked from floor to ceiling. Baron Rouge (Le) is also a regular haunt for locals, and you’ll quickly learn you can bring empty bottles here to fill them directly--and more cheaply--from the barrels. There’s also a good selection of bottles available to take away. Put Baron Rouge (Le) at the forefront of your travel plans using our Paris trip itinerary site .

  • There is nothing pretentious about Le Baron Rouge. Wine barrels aka tonneaux double as tables and there is a remarkable variety of wines to taste. Also cheese and charcuterie are available for purchas...  more »
  • Fabulous and convivial place. Good wines at more than affordable prices to be in Paris. You can combine the extensive wine selections with tasty charcuterie, Bulots paté and variegated cheeses (as we did). Beer also deserves a mention: they only have 2 german Pils (which I haven't tasted) and a bigger beer in the north of France that I really enjoyed. I recommend it. We went back 2 times...

  • The Red Baron is just THE BAR! to visit in the area and if I may add, in the city! the ambiance is just chill, awesome selection of wines (you can't beat the price)... The place to go if you want to experience local life. Friendliest staff ever!
  • Simply the best wine bar we tried in Paris. I'm not really a big wine drinker, but two of the wines we tried were the best I had our whole time in Paris. It fills up quickly and suddenly, so get there early if you want a table, or even a spot at the bar.
