  • This small church is located place Victor Hugo at no. 9, in the 16th arrondissement. It is associated with the monastery of little sisters of Bethlehem, or "the Presence of God" who practice a life of solitude, since 1974. The Church exists since 1855, to meet needs a place of worship in a then sparsely populated neighborhood. Then she grows of a transept in 1876 in the characteristic style of the Eastern Churches. The façade is sober with a portal under arc arch, topped by a framing finely carved foliage and Angel heads. A large oculus in cross adorns the top of the cover under the top supporting a pinnacle. The Interior of the nave is dedicated to the "silent prayer" with carpets covering the ground. Here we find the symbols of the Christian Church of the East and of the old testament. The iconostasis, large gantry closed, between the priests of the faithful, is carved wood. It is decorated with icons representing Christ in Majesty, the Virgin, John the Baptist and the Apostles and the Saints in Paris. These icons are made in the Byzantine style, IE haloed and Oriental traditional dress. At the top of the heart, a large fresco represents the Holy Trinity, with the three angels, in the Orthodox tradition. In front of the iconostasis, one can see the lampstand with seven branches and the monstrance, attributes of the Old Testament. Finally, the choir is illuminated by a beautiful canopy on the ceiling, in a style similar to Art Nouveau with rays symbolising the light. The nave is also enriched with two wooden statues painted of Christ and of the Virgin, in a style ' naïve "." Organs are under a semicircular arcades structure probably supported by a metal frame. This small church, leaves no one indifferent, the peaceful atmosphere that prevails and the unusual decorations in a European Church. It is open Tuesday to Friday from 8: 00 to 11: 00 and from 15: 00 to 19:30 and on Sunday from 9: 00 to 18: 00. It is accessible from the metro station "Victor Hugo" line no. 2

  • This church is very warm and welcoming. The mass is often sung by the nuns of the convent. The rite is superb. A place of reverence and fervor.
