5th Arrondissement, Paris

4.7
Located on the left bank of the Seine, 5th Arrondissement is one of the oldest districts in Paris, dating back to the Gallo-Roman era. Traces of the area's ancient past are evident in several archaeological remains, such as Roman baths and amphitheaters. Since the medieval times, the district has been known for its Quartier Latin--the area around Sorbonne dominated by higher education institutions. Bookworms should visit Shakespeare and Co., one of the more iconic bookstores in the city. Other interesting sites include Pantheon, Grande Mosquee of Paris, and a museum dedicated to Pierre and Marie Curie. • In my top 2 neighborhoods I prefer in Paris with the Ile de la Cité. History is normal. Of course, I particularly like the many historical sites there (Pantheon, Museum of the middle ages and Roman baths, the Sorbonne, the garden of plants, the Museum of natural history and the Gallery of evolution, the great mosque of Paris, etc.). but this district, which stretches from the Luxembourg Garden to the Gare d'Austerlitz, is above all an atmosphere, a very special atmosphere, lively and very Parisian and student. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, terraces and religious addresses. The tourists come in droves, but it is part of the atmosphere and we can rejoice that they like to visit this neighborhood as much. Because of this, the prices are sometimes high but there are still very good addresses that practice correct rates.
