Step into the world of medieval Prague with a stroll across pedestrian-friendly Charles Bridge. Completed in 1402, the bridge replaced an older structure and became a major commercial link between eastern and western Europe. For nearly four centuries, this Gothic structure was also the only connection between the city's old town and the growing residential neighborhoods on the other side of the Vltava River. The bridge rests on 16 arches and spans 621 m (2,037 ft), featuring a continuous alley of 30 statues depicting saints venerated at the turn of the 18th century, when they became the structure's main decorative elements. There were some street performances along the bridge. Enjoy the show as well as looking around for nice city views while blowing cool wind and eating a hot sausage bread. Damn cool and relax ! more »

Even at the end of November, the bridge is totally overrun with tourists (of which I am a part!). Go there in the morning early, because otherwise it's painful. The statues are not period, and the sandstone is completely blackened. Frankly, Prague is a beautiful city but the Charles Bridge is not my favourite. So of course it is important for its symbolism, because it refers to King Charles, who developed prague enormously.View original

The most beautiful bridge in eastern Europe, perhaps throughout Europe, has not always been everywhere. The view is amazing! Take care of your pockets, dear ones, gypsies constantly rub on the bridge, wallets were taken from backpacks from acquaintances extremely skillfully in 2 seconds ... otherwise the impression is superb! If you go the other side further, there is a descent to the water, and there are very LOTS of swans, ducks, sometimes you can even meet a local otter! In general, such a mini contact zoo! Really nice place! I’m happy 😃

This is one of my favorite bridges in the whole world. It is beautiful and somehow extremely romantic with the gas lanterns and various stone carvings along the bridge. With the view of Prague Castle in the background the scene can be absolutely spectacular. This is a place worth visiting again and again. The only downside is it is a popular tourist site and a main route for pedestrians going to and from the castle.
