4.6
#2 of 118 in Museums in Beijing
Constructed with a combination of Tibetan and Han Chinese styles, Lama Temple (Yonghegong) represents a Buddhist monastery and the best-preserved lamasery in modern China. Built in 1694, the site initially served as a residence for court eunuchs, but was later converted into both an imperial palace and a monastery for monks of Tibetan Buddhism. Inside you can find many interesting works of art, such as three displayed bronze Buddhas, a white sandalwood statue of Maitreya Buddha, sculptures of Arhats in different sizes and positions, and large frescos decorating the walls. You can also purchase many souvenirs and quality incenses at the temple. • This is the tibetan Buddhist land, I have no interest in this, but the husband held to see the white sandalwood carved into the great Buddha, 18 meters high, underground there are eight meters. Go, not the big Buddha, but also the Golden Nanmu Buddha, and five hundred mountains, and even the Tibetan building, are well worth a look, but also to go

  • Lama temple is very beautiful and serene! There is a quiet stillness as you move around the premises! It is opens daily from 9am-4:30pm. The cost is 25 yuan to enter. Very inexpensive! The architecture is so detailed and breathtaking. People come here to worship. I really enjoyed visiting and I highly recommend when you visit Beijing.
  • The temple of temples, for sure. Serene and massively spread out, worth your time. We were here for the lunar new year - it was -7 degrees C and crowds I have never seen before, which added to the grandeur! Must see!
