Sky Costanera, Santiago

4.5
#4 of 3,386 in Things to do in Chile
The tallest building in South America, Sky Costanera offers impressive panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The lift takes you 300 m (984 ft) up, to the top observation deck in just two minutes. Make this the last stop on your journey to get the overall picture and place every attraction you visited in its proper location. If you wait until sunset, this might be one of the highlights of your visit to Santiago. The first observation level is enclosed and air-conditioned, while the second is open, which means that it can be chilly or hot depending on the weather. The multi-lingual signage provides explanations for some of the landmarks you'll see. • We went up in the morning when it wasn’t busy. The views from the top are in every direction and you can see as far as the smog allows you. There should be refreshments up there in a couple of weeks t...  more »

  • The Costaneira Sky is awesome! The view of the city of Santiago and the sunset is out of this world. I visited Santiago in December and the sky was completely blue, without any cloud. It was a full moon and I could see from one side the sunset and the other, the moon rising on a snowy peak of the Andes! It was surreal. There was a musical group playing local tunes and wine tasting. The support staff was very helpful and kind.
  • Amazing all round views of the city and mountains beyond, but loses one star because the clarity of views into the far distance is affected by the smog. At 300m high this structure towers over the surrounding buildings. There are two decks, with the upper deck open to the sky. However the best photos are taken from the lower deck because the sunlight striking the floor on the upper deck creates back reflexions in the large glass panel windows. Also the upper deck, I could only get half way round as the other half is reserved for corporate dining. It costs $15000 CP for a ticket to the top, it was surprisingly empty when I went late morning on Monday.
