A former home away from home for the famous Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, La Chascona now serves as a museum dedicated to the artist's life and career. Even today, you can see Neruda's left-field tastes in the design of the house. The living room, made to feel like a lighthouse, and the dining room, designed like a ship's cabin, pays homage to the great poet's love of the sea. Look for the two-faced portrait of Matilde Urrutia, Neruda's fiery redheaded lover. Inspect it closely to see the hidden image of Neruda's face whispering into his forbidden lover's ear. Reserve your tickets at least a day in advance to avoid disappointment. Put La Chascona into our Santiago trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

visitare questa casa mi ha molto emozionata, buona l'audioguida, l'organizzazione e anche il negozietto con i souvenir, ho comprato piccoli pensierini sostenendo la fondazione Pablo Neruda more »visit this house got me very excited, good audio guide, organization and even the little shop with souvenirs, I bought small little thoughts supporting the Pablo Neruda foundation
Excellent museum. Informative about Neruda's life. Good audio tour, neither too short nor too long. House itself was interesting and attractive. Situated in am area with a good mix of bars and restaurants.
Very good and informative museum in one of Pablo Neruda's homes. The tour is a self paced audio tour. The devices can be set to at least English and Spanish. There's a lot of stairs and narrow spaces.
