Prince Edward Island National Park, Prince Edward Island

#2 of 47 in Parks in Prince Edward Island
Venture into Prince Edward Island National Park to discover a striking natural landscape of wide beaches, sandy dunes, saltmarshes, and freshwater wetlands. The area was the inspiration for Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables" novels. Take relaxing walks along its numerous stretches of sand, or choose to trek one of the scenic hiking trails. Visit the Queen Anne Revival mansion, a National Historic site of Canada. Wandering the picturesque park--a designated Important Bird Area--you might see an array of bird species, as well as raccoons, red foxes, weasels, and beavers. See if you can spot the endangered piping plover skittering along the shore. • Highly recommended to visit it! Drive from Halifax or Darmouth to Digby, take the ferry across the Bay of Fundy and drive to PEI. Don't miss Brier Island for whale watching tours!  more »
  • We went there to camp in the summer 2018 and it was a most enjoyable experience. The Cavendish land area is very quiet, wooded and the beach is a 5 minute walk from the pitches. The Park offers several trails. The advantage of camping there is to have access already, so you can go to other areas of the Park to visit. The Brackley-Dalvay bicycle sector as well as Robinsons island was in our favorites. Beaches of fine reddish sand, very comfortable water temperature, beautiful dunes... To see!

  • It's breathtaking, if you enjoy outdoors - this is the place to check out. Photographer can spend days capturing it, amazing sunsets and sunrises, hiking at it's best. Plenty of space to explore, different levels of hiking, but it's mostly flat, some trails can be long and during sunny days it can be a bit of problem.
  • We visited here just this passed summer and PEI was beautiful!! I cant wait to return!! This park was gorgeous!
