Trip Planner: South America / Argentina / Litoral / Province of Misiones / Iguazu National Park / Cataratas del Iguazu
At Cataratas del Iguazu, on the border between Argentina and Brazil, experience the raw power of the Iguazu River as it tumbles off the Paraná Plateau into a deep canyon. The river flows over three sides of the canyon, covering a 2.7 km (1.7 mi) stretch of cliffs. Small islands along the plateau edge divide the river into hundreds of separate waterfalls. The tallest plunge for 82 m (269 ft) into the narrow chasm known as Garganta del Diablo, or the Devil's Throat. Walk out onto the lookout point, several feet above the Devil's Throat. The raging torrent throws spray hundreds of feet into the air, so prepare to get wet. To reach the falls, you must pass through a natural park. A train provides rides from the entrance, but the 30 minute walk often takes less time, as it avoids the lines. Keep an eye out for jaguars, toucans, monkeys, butterflies, and more among the lush scenery. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Iguazu National Park holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Cataratas del Iguazu and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

We went from Foz do Iguaçu by taxi, we shared with 2 more couples we met at the bus stop. The taxi driver charged 20 reais per person, 2 or 3 reais cheaper than going by bus and faster. For Brazilians: Mobile does not pick up, neither mine nor my husband's worked, but the Wi-Fi of the park entrance works well. The view from the Devil's throat is amazing! All the routes are beautiful! To make the 3 routes with the relatively empty park I spent about 6 hours. I stayed the whole day in the park and if I wanted to do the boat trip would not give time to do all the routes or would stay with the time quite tight. It was worth the visit! The only drawback I realized was the absence or almost no guide and/or staff of the park giving information in English. I heard only in Spanish, which is no problem for any Brazilian, but for foreigners who do not understand anything Spanish. It is only a criticism of this, because I realized that the park receives visits from people from various places of the world and the staff have to give all the information in English as well.

The tourist staff has much more agility to make the release on the border and has excellent organization to take the ticket of the internal train in the park that access to the devil's throat... (Greater fall of the falls) my daughters of 8 and 11 years complained a bit of how they walked but in the end they said it is worth... The total of trails is approximately 7km... The beauty of the place makes it worth every step.
