Av del Libertador, El Calafate

3.4
One of the city's main arteries, Av del Libertador was built in 1885 to ease the rapidly growing center's congestion problems. The 7 km (4.5 mi) avenue connects the central Retiro station to Tigre in the north, via the desirable neighborhood of Palermo. Walk down the avenue at your own leisure, stopping along the way at one of many cafes and restaurants for refreshments. You can also find plenty of shops and travel agents along the street. • There it is. From souvenir shops, sporting goods and restaurants to supermarkets, banks, pharmacies.

  • Along its 6 or 7 blocks constitutes the "center" of El Calafate. If it was just to rate the "people" that circulates (tourists and hosts), or its good vibe and vitality, I think a great avenue. But (except restaurants) locals are boring and trinkets for highly underestimated tourists. All have almost the same: thermoses, mates and coffee jugs with the logo of the "Route 40"; or glacier; Alfajores, bottles expensive of liquor of Calafate, handicrafts of towns originating in tribes of distant latitudes; And few other things. All very expensive. I saw no shoemaking, no clothing store, no jeans, no sports, no bazaar, no technology, no appliances, no etc. etc. Only the same souvenirs are repeated for tourists, almost all the avenue. They matched down. It must evolve urgently. It doesn't give for more.
